Journey

Pooja Sharma and her Kshitiz group have faced many challenges, such as social stigma, financial constraints, and lack of education, to pursue their dreams of becoming agripreneurs and empowering other women. They have also received recognition and awards from various government and private organizations for their achievements

Present Context

Smt. Pooja Sharma is now earning and contributing to her family income which has raised the status of her family in the village and changed the attitude of the society towards women working outside the home.

She is running a private company in the village itself and all the work right from processing to managing and marketing of the products is managed by the 24 women of the village. She has made her own identity in this male dominating society of Haryana.

The earning of the SHG has increased the lending capacity of the group to its members and thus enhanced the micro-credit system among the community. DRDA has credited 10,000/- to each SHG and 50,000/- to each SHG of a Mahila Sangathan in the district. Her Sangathan includes more than 100 women and they have received the benefits of getting loan at a very low interest and adopted some income generation activity like dairy, value addition, local shop in the village etc. This has raised their self confidence and also their position in the family as well as in society, which ultimately resulted in women empowerment.

Smt. Pooja Sharma has been recognized and appreciated by Hon’ble Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana which has created impact on other women also to create their own identity in the society.
